FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions...

Q: What pets do you provide services for?

A: We provide services for dogs, cats, rabbits, guinea pigs, and ferrets.

Q: My pet does not do well for nail trims. Is this OK?

A: We will attempt services on all pets. If it becomes too stressful for the pet or a safety issue will we stop the service. If we can safely complete services we will. An additional special handling fee could be accessed for extreme behavioral or agression issues.

Q: Do you require vaccine records?

A: We do not require to see any vaccine records. However, we do recommend you follow your veterinarians guidance on what vaccines your pet needs.

Q: Do I need an appointment?

A: At nail trim clinics - walk-ins only. At our physical location we recommend an appointment. If able, we do take walk-ins at our physical location.

Q: Why can I not assist with the service and be with my pet?

A: We do not allow pet parents to assist or be with their pet when receiving service’s because of safety concerns. Generally, pets are less stressed for grooming services when they cannot see their parents. This allows them to focus on the groomer and not trying to jump to their parents. The stress of trying to get to their parents could cause serious injury. Everything we do is to provide the utmost care to your pets.

Q: Why do I hear my pet cry and scream when getting their nails done?

A: All pets have different personalities and react differently. Some pets are more vocal than others and like to voice their opinion. This does not mean they are being hurt. Safety is our top priority and we will never continue services if a pet becomes overly stressed.

Q: Will my pets nail get quicked?

A: We never intend for a nail to get quicked. But, it is not 100% avoidable. Nails and quicks can grow at different lengths. This can make it harder  to see at times. The quicking of a nail could occur.

Q: How long have you been open?

A: We started Topher’s Paw Co. in 2020. Since then we have rapidly grown. We have over 15 years of experience in pet grooming.

Q: Will you use a muzzle?

A: Safety is our number one priority both for the pet and groomer. If there are signs of aggression, a muzzle will be used. Certain breeds cannot have a muzzle on them. In those causes we will use an e-collar.

Q: Can I drop my pet off and come back later?

A: No, you must stay and wait for your pets services to be completed. If you leave the premises and are not there when your pet is ready, you will be charged a $30 fee. No exception.

Q: Why don't you do bathing or haircuts?

A: We used to do bathing and hair cuts previously. But, we found there is a gap in the market for a place to go to with quick essential grooming care for pets. Most veterinarian offices and full service groomers are booked up for nail care and other essential services. This is where we come in. Plus there is plenty of pet parents who can groom their pets at home and the only challenge is nails. Think of us as the "upkeep" grooming shop that takes care in between your regular grooming schedule.

Q: What is a nail trim clinic?

A: Our nail trim clinics are at pet stores or humane societies. We visit each location we are partnered with once per month. We offer walk-in only nail trim services. A quick way to get your pets nails done without needing an appointment. Learn more about our nail trim clinics by visiting the "Nail Clinics" page.

Q: Is there a no show fee if I do not show for my appointment?

A: Yes, we charge a no show fee of 50% of the service scheduled. This must be paid prior to your next service with us. You will receive a text message 24 hours before your appointment. At that time you can easily reply "N" to cancel or "Y" to confirm.

Q: How come when I call, you do not always answer?

A: We are a small business ran by two people. If we have a pet on the table we will not stop their service to answer the phone (Safety of any pet is always a top priority). You can leave a voicemail and we will return your call or text you. The quickest way to reach us if we do not answer the phone during business hours is by texting us from the same number you call.

Q: Do you offer at-home nail care services?

A: Yes, we relaunched our at-home nail care services in May of 2024. Please visit the page titled "at-home" for all of the information and pricing.
