Our Story
A locally owned pet care business built on a lifelong love for animals, a passion for helping pets feel their best, and a commitment to serving our community.
A Little About Us
At Topher's Paw Co., we specialize in convenient, professional bathing, nail, paw, and upkeep services for your furry family members. Our goal is to make routine pet care easier, more accessible, and as comfortable as possible.
From nail trims and nail grinding to bathing, de-shedding, and essential upkeep services, we're here to help keep your pets looking and feeling their best between their regular grooming visits. We focus on these essential services rather than offering full haircuts.
We proudly provide nail and upkeep services for dogs, cats, rabbits, guinea pigs, and ferrets, with bathing services available for dogs.
Meet Christopher, Our Founder
Hi, I'm Christopher! My love for animals started long before Topher's Paw Co. ever existed. Growing up, I was always looking for opportunities to spend time with friends' and neighbors' pets.
At just 12 years old, I started a holiday pet charity called Toys for Pets. During my high school summers, I volunteered at a local veterinary clinic, which only strengthened my passion for animal care.
I eventually began working at PetSmart as a stocker and cashier. After two years, I enrolled in PetSmart's Professional Grooming Academy in 2009 and went on to work as a groomer for three years.
Later, I operated a small grooming business from my home before pursuing a career in sales and eventually insurance. Even while working in other industries, I continued grooming pets for family and friends because my love for working with animals never went away.
How Topher's Paw Co. Began
In 2020, during the pandemic, I decided to turn my passion for pet care into something bigger. What started as a side business offering in-home dog grooming became Topher's Dog Grooming.
With the support and help of my fiancé, Adrian, we built the business together while continuing to work our full-time jobs. Our evenings and weekends quickly became filled with appointments and opportunities to meet wonderful pets and their families.
As our business grew, we noticed that nail care was one of the services pet owners needed most. We realized there was an opportunity to create something different: a convenient place focused on routine nail, paw, and upkeep care.
In late 2021, we officially changed our name to Topher's Paw Co. to better reflect our mission and the services we provide.
Our Journey of Growth
What began as a small side business has grown into a dedicated pet care business serving families throughout the greater Lansing area.
Topher's Dog Grooming began as an in-home grooming business.
We became Topher's Paw Co., focusing on essential nail and paw care.
We opened our first physical location in Okemos, Michigan.
We moved into a larger location, expanded our hours, and welcomed walk-in customers.
We expanded our services to include professional bathing and de-shedding for dogs.
We continue helping local pet owners with accessible, professional bathing, nail, and upkeep care.
What Makes Us Different?
We believe routine pet care shouldn't have to be complicated. Not every pet needs a full grooming appointment just to have their nails trimmed, paws maintained, or other essential upkeep completed.
That's why we've built our business around convenient services that help bridge the gap between regular grooming visits. Whether you're stopping in for a nail trim or scheduling a bath, our team is here to make the experience simple and welcoming.
We know that many pet owners find nail trimming and routine upkeep challenging at home. Our goal is to provide a friendly, professional environment where your pet's comfort and well-being always come first.
Giving Back to Our Community
Donated to local animal rescues as of October 2026.
Giving back has always been an important part of our mission. Through our nail trim clinics and community partnerships, a portion of proceeds helps support local animal rescues and the incredible work they do.
Every customer who supports our small business also helps us make a difference in the lives of animals in need.
Our Four-Legged Family
As pet parents ourselves, Adrian and I understand how important it is to trust the people caring for your animals.
We're proud pet parents to our Labradoodle, Ember, and our Golden Retriever, Uri. They bring so much happiness into our lives and constantly remind us why we love what we do.
We also lovingly remember our sweet Shih Tzu, Adelai, who passed away in January 2023 at the age of 14. Adelai was a special part of our family and the early days of Topher's. Many of our longtime customers may remember seeing her in our social media photos.
We care for every pet that comes through our doors with the same kindness, patience, and attention we would want for our own.
Thank You for Supporting Our Small Business!
What started as a passion has grown into something we're incredibly proud of. We're grateful for every pet parent who has trusted us over the years and helped make Topher's Paw Co. what it is today.
We look forward to caring for your furry family members for years to come!
