Our professional paw care services are available at our in-store nail clinics or our physical location. We are unique as we solely focus on nail, paw, and upkeep care to help you in between your regular full-service grooming. This means we do not offer any bathing or haircut services, but rather provide a stress-free experience for your pet's upkeep needs.
Hi, my name is Christopher, and I have always had a special connection with animals ever since I was young. I used to find any opportunity to be around my friend's or neighbor's pets. When I was only 12, I started a holiday pet charity called "Toys for Pets". During my high school summers, I volunteered at a local veterinary clinic, and eventually started working at PetSmart as a stocker and cashier. After two years at PetSmart, I enrolled in their professional groomer academy in 2009 and became a groomer there for three years. Later, I ran a small grooming business from my home and pursued a career in sales. Even while working in sales, I still enjoyed grooming my family and friends' pets on the side.
In 2020, during the pandemic, I was inspired to start a more significant side business, which involved grooming dogs. This led to the creation of Topher's Dog Grooming, which offers in-home grooming services. With the help of my fiancé Adrian, we were able to turn this into a shared side hobby that we do during evenings and weekends, outside of our full-time jobs.
We started Topher's with a few services but soon realized that nail care was the most popular one. To better reflect our services, we changed our name and became Topher's Paw Co. in late 2021.
We experienced a surge in demand for our services in 2022, which prompted us to open our first physical location in Okemos, Michigan in August of the same year. This expansion enabled us to offer additional services such as paw shaving, feet trimming, face trimming, teeth brushing, and other essential services.
We are dedicated to providing paw, nail, and fur care services exclusively. This enables your pet to receive professional and essential services without the need to wait for an appointment at another location. We understand that certain tasks like nail trimming and fur care can be challenging for pet owners to do at home. Our services act as a regular upkeep in between your pet's regular grooming schedule.
We had to move to a bigger physical location as we outgrew our first one. In May 2023, we opened our new, larger location with full-time hours and began accepting walk-ins at the shop in addition to appointments. During this time, Chris quit his corporate insurance career to run the business full-time, while Adrian still works his full-time job in social services and is actively involved in the business during evenings and weekends.
We offer paw services that you can access easily. You may choose to visit our in-store nail clinic or our location, whichever suits you best. It brings us immense joy to continuously expand our small business to serve more members of the community. By supporting our small business, you are also contributing to the welfare of local rescues. A portion of proceeds from the nail trim clinics directly goes to them. Since our opening in 2020, we have been able to give back over $13,000 to local rescues as of November 2023.
As pet owners, we understand that it is crucial to make your furry friends feel safe and comfortable during their paw care services. Adrian and I are proud pet owners of two dogs, Ember and Uri. Ember is a 2-year-old Labradoodle, while Uri is a 1-year-old Golden Retriever. We take care of each pet as if they were our own, and we love them dearly. You can see their cute photos at our shop in the waiting room. Unfortunately, we lost our beloved 14-year-old Shih Tzu, Adelai, in January 2023. Adelai was an integral part of Topher's, and you may have seen her pictures all over our social media.
